It's All Gone Pete Tong
A wild and original look at the extraordinary life of Frankie Wilde, the legendary DJ who ruled the Ibiza club scene, tragically went deaf, then disappeared. Frankie was one of Europe's most talented and envied DJs and a main attraction for hedonistic youth each holiday season in Ibiza, Spain. Everything about Frankie's life was over the top: the clubs, the parties, the women and the drugs. But the years of pounding music and heavy toxins took their toll, eventually leaving Frankie stone deaf. His fans, record deal, manager, wife and stepson soon disappeared. The good times gone, Frankie isolated himself in his villa for a year under a pile of self-pity and a mountain of drugs.
Determined to pull himself together, Frankie hired a lip-reading instructor, accepting a new way of life and rediscovering the dance rhythms that had defined him. His ultimate redemption returned him to the top of the scene with a renewed connection to the almighty beat. And then ... he disappeared.

I can't believe I waited so long to see this fantastic film. I laughed, I got a little misty-eyed, I wanted to dance. There are some great performances here and the story could have been all-out cheese except it's written with such panache, you don't care!Slow starting, picks up in the second half - geodave
Watching this, I can't help but be reminded of This Is Spinal Tap. The main character has a sort of lunacy about him, in the same Christopher Guest style, although fueled primarily by whiskey and blow. The first act of this film is largely aimless, hectic, and to be honest it doesn't generate a lot of sympathy for the main character. This is redeemed, albeit only partially, in the later acts. There is difficulty in portraying every single character as an extreme, from the screaming-spittle agent to the trophy rockstar wife, and "It's All Gone Pete Tong" doesn't fully succeed. If you can stick with it, it's worth a watch, but in the end I was left unsatisfied.Stick with it and be rewarded - eoguy
Have you ever prepared to return a movie you hated but decided to give it one more try after reading the synopsis on the DVD sleeve just one more time before sealing the envelope? That is how I came to watch and LOVE this movie! Unfortunately for those uninitiated in the DJ, drug, Ibiza mix, trance music, "everything to the excess" culture might miss out on a major part of the fun in this movie. I am sure the part where he attempts to lick the back of that toad (or was it a frog) would have gotten past anyone who didn't know someone like Frankie, who would go to any lengths to obtain the latest, most obsure, sure-fire-bliss high. I forget what kind, but in college I heard that there is said to be a certain kind of toad or frog that, if licked, would deliver a real acid like high to anyone brave (and curious) enough to take a taste. The badger used as the manifestation of the realization of his cocaine habit was an inspired, though strange, touch. From the beginning to the end I absolutely loved this move. The second time around, I realized that in order to truly appreciate this movie, it is best to be in a a relaxed , open frame of mind. No, I don't mean high-- I mean unrushed) I had to resort to the closed captioned button a couple of times so that i didn't miss any important or funny dialogue but all in all it was pretty easy to understand. In my opinion, the ending was unexpected and amazingly heartwarming. I will never again bob my head to an Ibiza music mix without remembering Frankie Wilde. From the opening scenes, there was no question that he truly loved the the music as much as his fans loved him.
