A Dangerous Man: Lawrence After Arabia
Freedom is a deadly business.
His name is written across the burning sands of the desert for all time, but his victory there was just the beginning. In this International Emmy Award winning epic, Ralph Fiennes (Oscar and Lucinda, The English Patient) stars as the legendary Lawrence of Arabia as he embarks on a new chapter in his life - and takes on an even riskier battle.
T.E. Lawrence rose from the ranks of British intelligence to become the hero of the Arab world, leading a ragtag band of tribesmen to unlikely victory over Turkish rule. Yet the taste of freedom will be all too brief and a new challenge soon emerges, one that will pit Lawrence against the mightiest of global powers. The prize is unimaginable wealth - and the hero of the desert will find himself the target of deadly foes determined to do nothing less than redraw the map of the world.

This film is a wonderful glimpse into the stiff and devious world of frock coated 1919 diplomacy. I agree with those who already have said it is a wonderful companion piece for the more well known film about T.E. Lawrence. Fiennes gives a very deep and effective interpretation of the complex Lawrence. The recreations of Clemenceau, Wilson and Lloyd George are powerful indeed. The Versailles treaty is almost ancient history even though it had much to do with shaping today's complicated world. This film brings it into the present (or maybe us into the past). Perhaps not everybody's cup of tea but well worth seeing if you like twentieth century history, good acting and fine British televisionthe start of it all - arwen1196
If only they had listened perhaps the present problems in the Middle East could have been avoided.
Fans of Lawrence of Arabia will not be disappointed. Ralph Fiennes not only has a strong physical resemblance to Peter O'Toole, but also portrays him in a very similar manner. In all, a very interesting sequel (on a much smaller scale) to the original film.
