Absurdly inventive - BottomLine
Bottom Line: A must-see for kung-fu fans and a worthy intro to the genre. All viewers are, however, hereby forewarned to prepare themselves for a descent into movie wacky-land.
Like most kung-fu flicks, CSNs suffers when no butt-kicking is taking place on screen. The plot is so erratic (at times achingly stupid, yet other times veering toward dramatic genius) it's almost a form of satire; the characters don't converse, they just flick lines of dialog at one other like throwing stars, hoping something sticks; and the the staging, props, and costumes look like they came second hand from a _really_ weird porn film. Pretty much par for the course for the genre.
But you don't rent kung-fu movies for help on the path to enlightenment (do you?); you rent them to see finely honed ass-kicking machines perform their little dance of mock death to the accompaniment of a soundtrack that reminds you to replace your car's muffler. And if you're lucky, the film will also delight you with innovative weaponry (one movie I saw had a guy with 4-foot braid--with a knife at the end) and fanciful techniques ("My squatting lizard style is much stronger than your belching monkey.") On all points, CSNs rocks.
I've never seen a kung-fu movie (and I've seen plenty) which is so endlessly inventive in its fight choreography. On a purely technical level, there are several one-vs.-many scenes which are unequaled in the genre. And in terms of full-throttle imaginative bizarreness, CSNs definitely ranks. Fast-forward through the "plot" in order to watch men dressed up as Solid Gold dancers literally dazzle their opponents to death. You can also see ninjas disguised as trees delivering surprise death-blows with artificial metal claws. There's even a scene where some kung-fu dudes deliver death by stepping on a bad guy with their spear-headed stilts. I kid you not.
A rare kung-fu flick which made me laugh out loud at its sheer outrageousness; a great genre film.Chinese Super Ninjas - Dawg
If you are fan of this genre then you have to see this flick. No true Kung Fu enthusiast should pass up the chance to watch this.
As the other people o that has reviewed it has said, it is one of those that were shown only a couple of times.
So make sure you see it.The best Kung fu movie ever made!!! - waynie_wonder
I am not kidding when I make the above claim. I grew up watching the Saturday afternoon kung fu movies on City TV and this was one that they showed twice over 10 years so I had to request it and Zip finally delivered! The story is typical but still a bit more advanced than your regular revenge flick. The killing scenes are the most graphic of any that they made etc. so do yourself a favour and put it on your ziplist.
