The Constant Gardener
Love At Any Cost.
"A First-Rate Spy Game" - Rex Reed, The New York Observer
Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes (The English Patient) and Rachel Weisz (Constantine) give electrifying performances in this gripping suspense-thriller.
A diplomat on the hunt for his wife's murderer uncovers a treacherous conspiracy that will destroy millions of innocent people-unless he can reveal its sinister roots. From the best-selling spy novel by John Le Carré comes this edge-of-your-seat story of murder, deception and revenge that critics are calling "a hair-raising thriller with an unforgettable finale" (Karen Durbin, Elle).

The title and plot don't match so it is a bit confusing to know what it is about in the beginning. This does become obvious and is quite engrossing and at the same time very disturbing. It just reinforces how manipulated we are by corporations, government, oil companies and media and how much sneaky stuff goes on that we don't know about.Brilliant - Amadeus
This is by far one of the best films I have ever seen. The story line was so deep and so dark, and it keeps you going from beginning to end. Of course it is based on a book, which helps give it more substance than just a screenplay only. The acting was a big part of it, which really helped bring the movie to life. Fiennes and Weisz do an excellent job, not to forget the other actors. It makes me wonder why, with his acting ability and good looks, and that accent, why does he not get more roles? The cinematography was done beautifully with the colors and angles scenes were shot in. It drew you so deep into the movie, that you can really feel the emotion and power of each scene. It was the work of genius. It was just one of those films that you know will be good, and it ends up being better than expected. I wish I could rate it higher than a 10, because it definitely deserves it.Don't compromise - bob4
I left the theatre after watching this movie dazzed. It took me a while to collect my thoughts and understand what I'd just experienced.
This movie beautifully and authentically captures the complications of real world issues and weaves them in with the memories, compromises, misperceptions, and regrets we all have and make in life.
This movie does not run linearly, but in pieces as does the human mind. It does not have a "bad guy", but a series of compromises by governments, companies, friends, and husbands.
The viewer was not let off the hook by this movie. You could not walk out feeling like everything in the world is as it should be because the good guy won and the bad guy was punished--the issue resolved, story ended. You were forced to look at yourself, at your country, your government, the companies you patronize, and ask what compromises they are making. What are we allowing them to do to millions of people or just one individual everyday? How are we compromising our values? I would never hurt someone to ensure my safety on an individual level, how can I allow a huge corporation to hurt many people in such a way.
I feel that this movie encourages you to dig deeper--deeper into your heart, deeper into your practices, the companies you support, the government you support. If we stay on the surface, we are compromising ourselves and everything we value in life.
