Ham & Cheese
Two actors. One dream. Zero talent.
Have you ever had a dream? Have you ever had to give up your job, your spouse, or perhaps your dignity, to attain it? Ham & Cheese follows the ups, downs, the highs, and the real, real, lows of two struggling actors, Richard Walanski and Barry Goodson, as they try and make it in the cruel world of showbiz.
Starring talented Canadian indie up-and-comers Jason Jones (Phil the Alien) and Mike Beaver (Sorority Boys, The Loser), Ham & Cheese also features hilarious Kids in the Hall alumni Scott Thompson and Dave Foley and The Daily Show's queen of dry wit, Samantha Bee, in supporting roles.

This started out pretty good actually, but from about the 20 minute mark on it was devoid of something that is essential in a comedy... LAUGHS! Too bad too because my buddies in Kids in the hall deserve better cameos too.
Can I tell you something that bothers me about this "mockumentary" style? When it's done poorly, it slips out of the genre so easily. It starts off as a first person documentary where the "actor" is very aware of the camera and than all of a sudden there's 3 camera angles, a crane shot and action taking place that clearly wouldn't be happening on a documentary. Come on people if you're going to do a Christopher Guest rip off, do it right at least.Better Than The Title Suggests - dog300
The title doesn't exactly draw you in, but now that I've seen the movie, it definitely makes sense. Don't expect big-budget Hollywood (except as a location) in this mockumentary style movie that was surprisingly good. Both Mike Beaver and Jason Jones are really funny, in two different ways. There is a hilarious scene with Scott Thompson and Jason Jones that any wanna-be actor should see. Oh, and another painful scene with Jason Jones that is an excellent map on "how not to get a job" (acting or otherwise). Very funny. I would say "Rent this film to suport Canadian independent movies", but I think it can be changed to "Rent this film, it's just plain funny".
