Whoever took Matt Helm seriously anyway? - Chucky
If you like cheesy one liners, Dean Martin and bungling bad guys this movie will float your boat. Add to that amazing 1960's scenery, grat retro furnishings and girls that actually come off as sexy while (believe it or not) keeping their clothes on and sahowing some class. Granted, you're not watching a James Bond flick but Matt Helm is a fun change of pace from the stick up his butt, British, super secret MI6 agent. Just a fun old flick, cheesy acting, worse plot but lots of good points too.Good old Dino - MovieLover
This is mediocre stuff at best.
Dean Martin does his best to brighten up the movie but generally in vain except when he's singing I'm not the marrying kind. Then that great voice sweeps you away and you forget the silliness. It's also always nice to see Ann Margaret but she is particularly silly in this one and her great looks cannot hide the poor acting (not that she or anyone else can be blamed in this movie). The talented Karl Malden is of course wasted; he obvioualy acted for the money.
Dino looks tired and quite old really. He was a darned good actor as he proved in other movies. No scope here.
