Siblings
Joe and his Siblings have a couple of problems. First off, their stepparents are despicably evil. Secondly, they seem to have killed them. Now this mixed up mess of half-sisters and step-brothers have to figure out how to dispose of the bodies, cover up the murders, collect their grandfather’s inheritance and somehow stick together as a family, all without getting caught. Not to mention the eldest Joe’s incessant need to keep tabs on his promiscuous sister, an eye on the precocious little ones and a lustful watch on the girl next-door. Growing up has its complications. Murder is just one of them.

Canadian films tend to deal with a few central themes: death, sex, loneliness, and nature. All four (as well as a healthy helping of black humour) are present in this film. It's refreshingly cast, unusual and unafraid to show the dirty realities of life without sacrificing the real undercurrent of warmth and affection that the siblings have for each other.
There really aren't enough movies about love that *isn't* romantic; although the two older kids have paramours, the focus is their strange little family and the bond among them. It was much better than I anticipated, and if you like movies that can blend pathos, humour, hope and cynicism all at once you might just enjoy it too!Canadiana you should see - cheetara
This is the ultimate in disfuntional families with 4 siblings who aren't even related to each forced to deal with the step-parents from hell. When the grandfather they love more then anyone dies they have to figure out how to survive and how best to deal with their lives and how to stay together. The movies is dark, funny, and full of love and should be watched by all because it is not only an excellent film, it is also Canadian and we need to support people to make more films of this quality.
