Walk the Line
Singer. Rebel. Outlaw. Hero.
With his driving freight-train chords, steel-eyed intensity and a voice as dark as the night, the legendary "Man in Black" revolutionized music - and forged his legacy as a genuine American icon. Golden Globe winners Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon star (and sing) as Johnny Cash and June Carter in this inspiring true story of one man's unwavering devotion to his sound, his message and the greatest love of his life.

Great acting but a little incomplete - rnhaas
Phoenix and Witherspoon are excellent and incredibly convincing as their respective characters and the story is of course compelling. But like a lot of biopics it's pretty arbitrary about what it includes and excludes. We only see Cash up until the end of the 60s and of that period, it focuses mostly on the music he created in the mid to late 50s. It focuses far more on his personal life in the 60s despite the fact that he put out a huge amount of - often very good - music during this time. And it sees At Folsom Prison as some kind of culmination of his career, even though he made music for anoher 30+ years. So that's a little odd.Absolutely Fantastic!!! - 0930tracey
If you asked me 10 years ago "Who should play Johnny Cash?" I might not have said Joaquin Phoenix. Now, after watching Walk the Line 20 times, I can't imagine anyone else in this role. He completely took over the essence of Mr. Cash. And the fact that he sang all those brilliant songs, is the icing on the cake. With an amazing assist by Reese Witherspoon (Oscar Deserved!!), this movie will go down as one of my all-time favorites. My only rift is that Joaquin didn't get the Oscar!!!!!Great for Fans and Non-Fans - Charlie_Brown
I am not a big Cash fan, but I loved this movie. It is just a great movie that pulls you into the characters. To compare it to another recent film about a legendary musician, Ray, I would definitely rate Walk The Line much higher. While Ray was good and I enjoyed it, Walk The Line had so much more in terms of the depth of the story, and character development in my opinion. I highly recommend this movie to just about anyone.
