Brokeback Mountain
Winner of 3 Academy Awards!
Brokeback Mountain is a sweeping epic that explores the lives of two young men, a ranch hand and a rodeo cowboy, who meet in the summer of 1963 and unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection. The complications, joys and heartbreak they experience provide a testament to the endurance and power of love. Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal deliver emotionally charged, remarkably moving performances in "a movie that is destined to become one of the great classics of our time" (Clay Smith, The Insider).

Brokeback Mountain is ultimately about the paralysis of regret and how it fractures the lives of not just those afflicted by it, but everyone else around them. Just a well-made, well-acted melodrama that is quiet and reflective instead of big and bombastic.A Must-See - DannyN16
It's rare to see a romantic tragedy that isn't a copy of Romeo and Juliet. While these lovers may still be star-crossed, the story feels very original and raw thanks to an amazing screenplay by legends Larry McMurtry and Diana Ossana. Ang Lee's visuals are so stunning, as usual, but the landscape was so beautiful already that I don't know how much work he really had to do. Heath Ledger's performance is heartbreaking, Jake Gyllenhaal is achingly beautiful in every seen, Michelle Williams moves you, and Anne Hathaway and Linda Cardinelli are such spitfires that they would have stolen every scene if they had been working with lesser actors. Even Randy Quaid and Anna Faris shine in their bit parts. It truly is an iconic love story that should go down in film history as one of the greatest movies of our generation.Very impressive on many levels - CaptainPhil
While many may not be comfortable with the concept of 'gay cowboys', I dare anyone to not be pulling for these two characters' love story by the end of this stellar film. Oustanding performances by the two leads, Heath Ledger and Jake G, but also strong performances in supporting roles, particularly Michelle Williams. Strong storytelling, great scenery, and a wonderful story... this really is the movie it claims to be, and the raves are just.
No matter what your opinion is on the political issue, check this movie out.
