A Sound of Thunder
Some rules should never be broken.
In the year 2055, a technology has been invented that enables people to go back in time to hunt dinosaurs. When one such expedition to the Prehistoric past unwittingly makes a fatal mistake it dramatically impacts the course of evolution, setting off waves of destruction that ripple toward the modern world and unleashing an army of fearsome creatures that never should have existed. Two scientists race against time to fix the catastrophic error while their world collapses around them and every minute brings the human race closer to extinction.

The Ed Burns Movie - VickiP
I loved this movie and that is a huge tribute to Ed Burns because he was really the only talent in the movie. However, the premise, execution and outcome was fantastic.
Although the futuristic city scenes should have been left to a bare minumum because they were super fake, the rest of the special effects were actually quite good.
I loved the concept of this movie and they explained it well. I was thoroughly entertained and would recommend it!Not bad - George_Sly
This is an acceptable science fiction movie, on a B level. I'd compare it to the recent Invisible Man or 28 Days Later for calibre.
If someone thinks this is their worst movie, they haven't seen much. Some people know a little about how movies are made and think they can make clever comments about the special effects. The effects involving the creatures are perfectly well done.
Keep in mind that this is not a Hollywood production but mainly British and Canadian.
It's based on the Ray Bradbury story which dates back to the 1950s. I read it then as a boy and it's one of the most memorable stories around. The movie creates an entirely original screenplay involving what happens after they get back from the ill-fated time trip. In the book there is only a hint of what changes may have been caused - the name of the company now appears as TYME SAFARIS.
This is not a classic movie or screenplay and does not do full justice to the greatness of the story. It's a typical contemporary creature feature, including crawly insects that eat you alive (too gross these days).
But it's a wish fulfilled to see it made into a movie now. They surely could have borrowed some damn money for promoting the release - it has the elements of successful box office. Ray Bradbury says he likes it.
There was another part the movie omits where one of the hunters is killed by a stampeding brontosaurus, and then because he died back then it meant he never existed in this time. So the other hunters gradually forgot he ever existed. In fact that's where the title comes from. At first the hunters hear a sound like rumbling thunder as the stampede approaches. Look up the collection of Bradbury short stories.
The Sound of Thunder was also made into a good episode of the TV Ray Bradbury series. But in that episode the change they wrote in was that now this society was ruled by Nazis, wouldn't you know - the favorite villains of communist writers.A good movie, if you can imagine a little! - Cygnus
I'm sorry - this is not a review of the DVD (which isn't out yet) but of the movie itself. And maybe not really a "review" per se, but I just wanted to voice my comments.
This movie received terrible critical reviews. When I read the reviews prior to seeing the movie, I was disappointed because I had high hopes for this film.
But, being that I'm a science-fiction fan, especially of anything to do with time travel, I simply had to see this movie and judge for myself.
As it turns out, I loved it.
I have to admit that many of the things that were criticized about this movie were true, but none of them were enough to ruin the experience for me, or even make it less enjoyable.
For example, all the reviews I read made fun of Ben Kingsley's hairdo. So what? He's just a character in a sci-fi movie. It's supposed to take place in the future anyway, and who are we to say what will or won't be in style by then?
Another thing that was criticized was the blue-screen work. I'll admit it was not up to the standard we're used to in big-budget Hollywood films these days, but it wasn't THAT bad. They were mainly referring to a scene where the characters were talking as they walked down a city street. The entire background was CGI. And even though it did seem a little fake, it wasn't bad enough to even put a dent in my suspension of disbelief. Maybe if someone was watching the movie really believing that it was real... but I think the majority of us understand that movies (especially sci-fi) are just fictional settings! Get over it, and just pretend with the rest of us! You'll enjoy it a lot more.
(beware of slight spoiler here...)
Another aspect of the movie that was a problem for some people was the way the time changes occurred. When someone went back in time and made a slight alteration to history, then returned to the present, the world would be just as they left it. However, later on, these literal "waves" of time change would
