Kissed
Cross over into a world where life ends and true passion begins, where the thrill of life is not in the living but in the transcendence into death. Kissed is a "gripping" (Vogue) love story that "will haunt you for a good long time" (Rolling Stone).
Ever since she was a young girl, Sandra has been fascinated with death. When she takes part-time work at a funeral parlor, her obsession with the dead begins to consume her every thought - and desire. Her secret obsession, however, interferes with her burgeoning relationship with her boyfriend, Matt, forcing him to embark on a personal crusade to prove that he will go to great lengths - and sacrifices - to make her love him!

First off, Iike tmFan, I also love Six Feet Under, but comparing that show to this movie is comparing apples and oranges.
This is not about a funeral home, or a family business, or really even about death - this is about one woman, and her strange compulsion to have sex with dead young men.
In the hands of a lessor actress, this movie would have fallen apart, but Molly Parker brings such a tenderness, and sort of innocence to the role, you will find yourself caring about this girl, even as you struggle to understand her.
Writer/director Lynne Stopkewich never sensationalizes this tricky subject, but is really trying to understand this strange fetish.
She shows us a girl who, instead of being repulsed by death, was alway fascinated by it. Her needs are not really sexual, but stem from a sort of strange empathy. She doesn't believe the bodies are really dead. She thinks they still feel. It's out of a warped sense of respect that she does what she does. The experience is spiritual for her.
Maybe not a perfect character study, but certainly a unique one.not as clever as advertised - TMFan1
Sure the necrophilia is a little disturbing and some of the embalming scenes are gross but Six Feet Under is my favourite TV show ever, so it's not that I'm squeemish. And it's hard to say without revealing the end of the movie just what made me feel like taking a shower after the movie but it wasn't the sex with the dead bodies, it had much more to do with the relationships between the live characters.
This is a very mean edged movie with WAY too much voice over. Don't waste your time, if you want to hang out at pretend funeral homes, spend some quality time with the Fishers of Six Feet Under instead!
