Bugsy Malone
Alan Parker's directing debut, Bugsy Malone, is the greatest (and only) film in the entire genre of child-actor-only, gangster/film noir spoof musicals. Scott Baio plays a gangster who is caught in a gangland war: Fat Sam's gang, with their primitive thrown cream pies, are outgunned by Dandy Dan's gang, which has modern "splurge guns" that shoot whipped cream. Jodie Foster plays Tallulah, a flapper / night club singer.

Uneven but fun - dmarks36
I was leery of this film. My wife remembered it fondly from her childhood and it was her recommendation that carried the order. I was surprised but it is by no means a great film. It holds up well in terms of cast, acting and premise but is uneven in the musical aspects with some clunker songs and worse lip-synchronization. It ends rather oddly and certainly outside the trajectory of the film. Suspension of belief is one thing, but it ends as if the budget was spent and this was the only option. Worth a view, but perhaps have something else on hand if the film is too onerous.
