1000 Eyes of Dr. Mabuse
Welcome to the Luxor Hotel, whrer the walls have eyes...Thousands of them.
The last film ever made by the great Fritz Lang (Metropolis, M, The Big Heat), is a fascinating thriller which combines elements of film noir, horror, and science fiction.
"A surprisingly slick and stylistic thriller." - William Everson, Classics of the Horror Film

No, not that Don Adams! This one is way more chic, despite having been hypnotized by the family shrink as part of the madman's nefarious plot to take over the world from his secret headquarters in the Hotel Luxor before the German dick and the American fall-guy get wise to it. Thank your lucky stars the Interpol spy spots some funny business in one of the hotel's elevators before it's too late!Pre James Bond… - Replicant.CA
This may be the last film made by Fritz Lang, but it felt like the forefather of many spy movies.
Originally done in German this DVD was dubbed in English and I, being German, did not notice any terrible mistakes in the lines. There were interesting plot twists and the acting was superb.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this and truly feel that any James Bond fan would find this enjoyable.3.6 stars - Moir
Not as exciting a film, I think, as the incredible (1933) Testament of Dr. Mabuse, also directed by Lang, but worthy of this master director.
I did not feel the lighting and the detail in the shots worked together in this as in the 1933 Mabuse film that was banned by the newly in power Nazi's. Whereas the other struck me as a major masterpiece, this felt simply a master example of film making.
As a film that holds together and 'tells' the story this is extremely well done. It is just that on a deeper level it does not give the joy and excitement to the heart from the effect of everything fitting together, light and shadow, dialogue and apparent incidental details, that which obviously had meaning and that which less obviously did, in the earlier film.
