Just Like Heaven
When David (Mark Ruffalo) sublet his quaint San Francisco apartment, the last thing he expected -- or wanted -- was a roommate. He had only begun to make a complete mess of the place when a pretty young woman named Elizabeth (Reese Witherspoon) suddenly shows up, adamantly insisting the apartment is hers. David assumes there's been a giant misunderstanding... until Elizabeth disappears as mysteriously as she appeared.
Changing the locks does nothing to deter Elizabeth, who begins to appear and disappear at will -- mostly to rebuke David for his personal living habits in her apartment. Convinced that she is a ghost, David tries to help Elizabeth cross over to the "other side." But while Elizabeth has discovered she does have a distinctly ethereal quality -- she can walk through walls -- she is equally convinced that she is somehow still alive and isn't crossing over anywhere. As Elizabeth and David search for the truth about who she is and how she came to be in her present state, their relationship deepens into love. Unfortunately, they may have little time before their prospects for a future together permanently fade away.

I only recently watched this movie and not being a Witherspoon fan she won me over. This movie was a great romantic comedy and even though it was released quite a few years ago, everything isn't outdated. I enjoyed the chemistry between her and Mark. The way the story was setup was unexpected and unconventional, made things less predictable. I think it is worth adding to your Ziplist. Do check it out.Reese and Mark Are Heaven!! - 0930tracey
I was waiting for these actors to work together! I love these two! This movie is funny, cute, sad and totally unrealistic! Everything I love about romantic comedies! Reese Witherspoon is the mot beautiful she has ever been and Mark Ruffalo is super-hunky!! Grab your girlfriends and popcorn and settle in for night in heaven!!Fun romantic comedy - thenewguy
Just Like Heaven is a romantic comedy which puts a slight twist on the standard setup. David is a heart broken man looking for a new apartment. Elizabeth is a newly body-departed ghost who thinks she still lives in the apartment. At first they clash, both declaring the space theirs. However, Elizabeth is quickly made to realize she is a ghost. The catch is she doesn't remember who she was.
Elizabeth enlists David in helping her find out who she was. From there the plot is pretty standard for a romantic comedy and the characters warm to each other.
The movie, while predictable, is well executed. Though the secondary characters aren't used a lot, they play good supporting roles and don't fall into the typical cliches. Elizabeth's sister, especially, is well written and well played.
The pacing of the film is good, the acting is good. It's a safe, heart-warming movie. Not amazing, but good.
One piece which stands out is the opening. Our introduction to Elizabeth before she becomes a spirit is beautifully executed. It shows us her problems and her good qualities making her a very loveable character within the first two minutes and makes what might otherwise be a flat female lead someone the audience wants to cheer for.
