Local Stigmatic
Two working-class English blokes spend their days at the pub, arguing about dog racing and politics. One day, they meet a famous film star, and subject him to a severe beating.
Local Stigmatic has never been widely released before now. After the 1990 completion of the film, Al Pacino gave a copy to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, with the stipulation that it only be screened with his permission.

A play that should have stayed that way - AvidOscarBee
Most cinema directors will tell you that it is difficult to turn a play into a film - this one is the perfect example. This movie was made in 1990 and was a play written by a British writer, Heathcote Williams, at age 22. The premise of the movie is about envy and getting a bad tip on betting on a dog race. Al Pacino plays "Graham", Paul Guilfoyle plays "Ray" and Joseph Maher plays "David". It is directed by David Wheeler. I must say that Al Pacino's rendition of a Cockney accent is laughable, not to mention at times hard to understand. From meeting David in the bar one night, Graham and Ray make a decision to become violent with him. Compared to other films, this scene is tame, although you get the point of the violent intent. Because this film is less than an hour, it loses the richness of character development
and the plot needs more work. It's dark humour, but I never laughed once. In the final two minutes of the film, there are three still frames - bizarre. In the epilogue, Al Pacino said that he showed this movie to his 15 year old daughter, and realized he should have waited. At some point, he delayed releasing this film to the public for quite some time -- I can see why. By far, not his greatest work.
