Why KISS when a smooch will do? - Slamdunk
While my music tastes were shaped by the antics of Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, "Kiss: Konfidential & Extreme Close Up" left me a little wanting. In spite of the many nostalgic moments, the video clips featuring early vocal performances (Detroit, 1976; Japan, 1978)by PAul Stanley were painful. Yes, time has passed and live performances are supported by better sounds and lighting equipment, Stanley's hoarse, off-key performances were punishment to all those with a sense of hearing.
However, of particular note was Gene Simmons’ performance in both documentaries. Simmons —articulate and, to all appearances, very savvy— has used his on-stage talents for the dramatic and the absurd to cultivate quite a distinguished multi-million dollar empire.
