Dear Wendy
"A potent fable about America's history of violence."
—Richard Corliss, Time Magazine
Dear Wendy is a story about a young loner who lives in a poor mining town. When he discovers a small handgun one day, he finds himself drawn to it, despite his fervent pacifist views. With his newfound partner he soon convinces other young outcasts in the town to join him in a club he calls The Dandies, based on the principals of pacifism and guns. Despite their firm belief in never drawing there weapons – they soon find themselves in a situation where they realise that rules are made to be broken.

Oh please. They're not pacifists. There are no ideas in this movie, no struggle to remain pacifist in a violent world. The main characters are just a few people with an unacknowledged gun fetish. The best part is the end, which is just pure theatre of the absurd.Wow - Spuzz
Saw this for the 2nd time recently, and although it took me a little while to get into it again, this really picked up as it went along, and remains one of the best commentaries about people's fanaticism on guns in the USA. I was totally amazed after the first screening how much this resonated with me, how much deeper meaning I got from this movie. Some people don't get it, stating this glorifies guns. Those people don't get it. Yes, it DOES glorify guns, that's the whole point. An Acerbic, amazing character study that probably deserves cult status.A film that grows on you - Jimmy_Jam
My first impression when viewing the film was that the voice-over narration was very bad. Every little detail was described and I found the main character's voice, and the dialogue, were aweful. However, once this film gets going, any little thing I could pick out that was annoying was erased. Talk about a film that completely captures your attention. The direction is done with alot of innovation and style, but the story is right there to back it up. And my quibble about the voice-over and dialogue was soon erased because both became very, very good. I love the underdog theme running throughout the film, it makes the characters feel like an old western hero who is doomed from the start. The more I reflect, the better this film becomes.
