People know John McCain as a maverick presidential candidate, but before a life in politics, he was an honored naval officer. While other politicians went to law school and dined at black-tie fundraisers, McCain's journey took him on a different course, and this is his story.

As a freshman at the Naval Academy, young McCain takes extra razzing because he is the privileged son of a Navy captain (Scott Glenn, Training Day). Made tougher by that experience, McCain is soon flying bombing missions over Vietnam. Shot down, he becomes an inmate at the infamous prison camp, Hanoi Hilton. But beaten, starved and isolated, McCain's honor can not be taken - at any price.
