Afraid of the Dark
A madman is attacking blind people in their homes, and a small boy with fading eyesight begins his own secret investigation into the brutal assaults. When he finally identifies the monster responsible for the chilling crimes, he finds himself face to face with something that everybody understands... the fear of the unknown. Academy Award-winner Mark Peploe (screenwriter of The Last Emperor) delivers a terrifying and haunting psychological tale in which all of the frightening circumstances of childhood, both real and imagined, are heightened to extremes.

Enjoyable 90's suspense. - Clark
This is a British film about a boy that is about to have surgery to cure his deteriorating eye sight and believes someone is going around killing blind women.
The story has quite a few twists and turns and that might turn some of you off given all the twist endings that have been interwoven into many of today's horror films. Overall though I enjoyed it quite a bit, it had really good acting, nicely fleshed out characters and a pretty original concept (well back in 1991 anyway).
It's not an all out horror film as the first half works more of the genre elements then the second but it does have some good suspense. Anyway this gets the approval from me if anyone was thinking of checking it out.A Strange Journey... - cathyottawa

This is one of those movies that has a "twist", so I don't want to give anything away. It's one of those movies you'll want to watch again after you know what the twist is.
This movie is creepy in a strange sort of Twilight Zone kind of way. Part of the tension comes from not really knowing just what's going on with this little boy, and not being sure of what he is capable.
The child actor, Ben Keyworth, is very good. This was his first film, and other than a couple of TV appearances, he never did anything else.
This film understands children, and how they can feel invisible. It understands that they can live in their fantasies, and knows how to show us this young boy's mind.
That's as much as I can say without giving anything away!
