The Purifiers
The New Generation Of Warriors
Gangs rule in this stylish and sexy thrill-ride that recalls such action classics as The Warriors.
Dominic Monaghan (TV's Lost and The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy) starts as a member of The Purifiers, a gang of martial arts experts with a fierce reputation for protecting the streets.
Tired of hopeless government initiatives and bad policing, Moses (Kevin McKidd, Kingdom of Heaven), the leader of a rival gang attempts to unite the neighborhood into an all-powerful confederation with complete control over street crime and the drug trade. Because this goes against everything the Purifiers represent, they find themselves standing alone, and it soon become clear that for the new alliance to succeed, the Purifiers need to be eliminated.
With the odds stacked against the Purifiers, explosive and volatile street fighting reaches all-new heights with very different and deadly outcomes in the balance.

Good intentions that fall short - Bobbie
This film has lots of potential: good visual design; competent martial arts choreography; good foley work; adequate casting & acting; John Woo-type camera/editing work; etc. But put together everything falls short—especially the story line. It wouldn’t have taken much to move each element from ‘average’ to ‘good’ or even to ‘excellent’ ...but it never happens. After watching the film, I thought it might have been a pilot for a TV series. All-in-all, a sloppily stylized 'Warriors.' Keep an eye on Richard Jobson’s next few films... to see if he learns and grows from each subsequent experience.Yawn....zzzzz.... - Warrior_Princess
I was hoping for more from this movie, but alas, I was disappointed. I found it difficult to be involved in the story or the characters. At one point I went to wash out my dog kennel and came back and felt like I didn't miss anything.
The fight scenes were over-choreographed...or perhaps that's' the way they were meant to be (it didn't work for me). The sounds effects seemed out of place...for instance, when someone was roundhoused in the face with the back of someone's foot, it sounded like they slapped with the palm of a hand...mind you, I can't speak from experience what being roundhoused in the face with the back of someone's foot would sound like. The editing of the film seemed like someone figured out how to do a bunch of cool things with their camera and decided to try them out all at once. Screens were split when it was inappropriate. Shots were frozen, but the dramatic effect was lost as the scene was not poignant enough to warrant extending it...
Overall, I wouldn't waste time with this movie. The story could be good if it wasn't lost in bad film editing and over acting.
I give this film 2 out of 5...mostly because I like Dominic Monaghan =]
