Cop
Academy Award-nominee James Woods (Best Actor, Salvador, 1986; Best Supporting Actor, Ghosts of Mississippi, 1996) stars as a brilliant maverick police detective in this exciting, violent thriller with a hint of noir. Police detective Lloyd Hopkins (Woods) doesn't like to be told what to do, or what not to do. Stripped of his badge and gun, he pursues a killer no one thinks exists. By uncovering a secret hidden in a high-school yearbook, he will piece together seemingly unrelated clues to expose crimes dating back two decades

James Woods at his quirky best... - Chester
In giving possibly the best performance of his career,James Woods portrays a police detective who will do anything- including bending and breaking the law- in order to solve a series of serial killer murders that date back 15 years.
The fact he has a somewhat twisted psyche is evident from the beginning, when the "bedtime stories" he tells his young daughter every night are about one of the bizarre crimes that he has solved.
Although this movie was made in 1988,because of it's style (music, cinematography, poor acting by minor characters),it seems more like a low-budget early 1970's effort.
At about the two-thirds way point, the clues start to come together,by Woods using old-style deduction;no "CSI" here.
Lesley Anne Warren makes you forget that she once played "Cinderella". Here, she is excellent as an uptight, feminist book store owner who may hold the key to solving the case.
