Derailed
Uncut Version
Charles Schine (Clive Owen) and Lucinda Harris (Jennifer Aniston) have noticed each other on the commuter train before. One morning their conversation leads to a flirtation which turns into an evening drink and then, before either one can stop it, a passionate one-night stand. But suddenly a stranger explodes into their world, threatening to expose their secret and lures them into a terrifying game with more surprises then they saw coming and more danger then they may survive.

A affair may claim a terrible price from two desperate people in this psychological thriller. Charles is an advertising executive who is married to Deana and has a young, diabetic daughter whose third kidney operation just failed. Charles's life turns a most unexpected corner when he meets Lucinda Harris on a commuter train. Lucinda, who is also married with a daughter, keeps bumping into Charles on the train, and they strike up a friendship that soon grows into something deeper. Eventually Charles and Lucinda meet for lunch, then dinner, then check into a posh hotel, but the consequences turn out to be greater than they imagined; the dangerous criminal Philippe Laroche breaks into the couple's hotel room, beats Charles nearly unconscious, and rapes Lucinda. The problem doesn't end there, however; Laroche soon unveils both his certainty that the couple avoided calling the police, and - more troublingly - his possession of Charles's personal information.derailed - PlusMuchMore
I was impressed with Jennifer's skill I saw no comedy and did not think of her as a comedian at all. I never saw Clive before but I thought he was perfect. Lots of twists and turns kept me guessing, some times I thought I had it but another surprise. The bad guy was really bad he was the best of all.A pleasant surprise - DMac
Forget the reviews that Jennifer Aniston is great in this movie because as soon as she does anything dramatic, the critics go ga-ga. She isn't a tour de force in this movie, she is a damsel in distress, a supporting role. The role connection is made between Cassel and Owen, the ying and yang of a baddie and hero looking for redemption from his past failures. It is a morality tale that shows us that lies are like quicksand, the more we struggle with them, the deeper we fall in to the trap.
There are a few cliches that permeate the movie - the black kid with a second chance as a supporting character moving Owen through the dangerous and unknown underworld and the family in distress falling in to desperate times - but don't let them hang up your appreciation of the mano e mano conflict between Owen and Cassel. It is the driving force, the lifeblood of the thriller and gives us enough to enjoy the film.
