We know that Broken Lizard has an appeal that doesn't strike everybody's sense of humour. Very funny guys capable of writing and making outrageously funny movies like Super Troopers, (Though my sense of humour has me laughing harder at Slammin' Salmon).
This movie, the first for the troop, does display the comedic abilities they're capable of, but they're all but lost in this all-to-common theme of school movie aimed at teens. Animal house was a good movie. Animal house will always be fondly remembered as the benchmark for this genre... Puddle Cruiser won't be remembered so fondly.A Decent Start - Just_Lacks_Zazz
Though this isn't broken lizard's best, we have to keep in mind that it was one of their first attempts. In that regard, it certainly is still a decent movie - even though it isn't amazing. There are definitely some awesome parts in this film but it isn't chalk full of them like Super Troopers or Beerfest. Freaky Reaky is bloody brilliant though, I love all the bits with him in there. Very little is quotable or memorable but that doesn't mean that it is a bad movie, it just isn't great. Puddle Cruiser is something to watch when you really have nothing better to do and want to tick it off of your broken lizard list.disappointing - MandM
Sadly, it seems as though Super Troopers was Broken Lizard's flash in the pan. Subsequent films such as Club Dread and Dukes of Hazzard were lacklustre, and this one is a poor showing at best. It's questionable whether this is even a comedy... there were a few chuckles, but in general it's too long and awkward. The writing isn't great and the acting is worse. Interesting to see how these guys got started, but after about 10 minutes I knew this would be a painful experience.
