The Hurricane
Through miles of raging ocean he defined man's law!
An intolerant Governor sets off a series of tragic events in an idyllic Pacific paradise, disrupting the peaceful lives of islanders Jon Hall and Dorothy Lamour. This John Ford classic is best known for its rousing climatic typhoon sequence, with spectacular special effects that have never been topped.

A Classic! - Peter_Victoria_BC
This is a wonderful romantic film about the human struggle between individual freedom and blind by-the-books government. The film weaves a number of good vs evil perspectives on many levels - Polynesian culture vs French colonialism, church vs state, duty vs honour - and all without heavy handed preaching. Considering the film was made in 1937, the special effects on the hurricane sequence were really quite good. The character development and depth are superb. This is a great movie for two by the fireplace - try not to watch it during a storm!
