The River King
It's the truth that haunts us.
Abel Grey (Edward Burns) is sent to investigate the death of a boy from an exclusive local school, who is found floating in the river. Fearing scandal, the school insists it was suicide. But after discovering from the boy's girlfriend, Carlin (Rachelle Lefevre), that he was being bullied, Abel suspects that a dangerous schoolboy initiation has gone horribly wrong and he secretly solicits the help of a sympathetic teacher, Betsy (Jennifer Ehle).
He is warned off the investigation by his boss, as the school is a generous benefactor to the Police benevolent fund. Abel, however, cannot let the case go, not only because his own brother committed suicide years before, but also because it seems that the spirit of the dead boy is leaving them clues as to what really happened that night.

Dreadful !! Awful acting (so disappointing to see Jennifer Ehle in a senseless role with a lame accent), poor editing, a storyline that jumped in different directions without connecting the dots or carrying the story forward. No characters worth sympathizing with. The love interest storyline between Burns and Ehle was awful, and why do the "smart" good girls in the movies always date the assholes? Do not bother.Like so many...started out strong - KW--
This flick started out so well I was prepared for some good 'olde fashioned' entertainment...but like so many it died out in the end. It was a storyline we have seen so often - the cover-up after the murder and the discovery piece-by-piece as to what really happened....and it good a tad boring in the end. See what you think....Slow but Good - Canoe_Chick
The film moves slowly but not too slow that you want to turn it off and move onto something else. Stick with it. It weaves a great story, developing some interesting characters and keeps you guessing till the end. I kept thinking 'I know what happened' and then another twist would come and blow away my theory.
