Felicity: An American Girl Adventure
A full-length movie!
The doll you love comes home on DVD in a live-action movie. Felicity: An American Girl Adventure has all the joy, excitement and you-are-there history of the best-selling books about Felicity Merriman, a spirited girl growing up in Virginia in the years just before the American Revolution. Nine-year-old Felicity (Shailene Woodley) knows she's supposed to stay quietly indoors doing "sitting-down kinds of things." But she yearns for the freedom of the outdoors... and especially for the adventure of riding horses. Then she meets a beautiful, copper-colored mare who's mistreated by her cruel owner. When Felicity tries to rescue the horse she calls Penny, she learns valuable lessons about loyalty, responsibility and independence.

I read the reviews on this movie, and they seemed to really like it.I on the other hand did not. Anyone who has horses knows you can not just get on an unbroke horse and start riding it. This movie was just too far fetch for me. If you don't know nothing about horses than rent it. If you know about horses you will not like this movie. Not only that I found it boring and seemed to drag on.This is only my opinion.1775, Prior to the American Revolutionary War... - Fudgeflaps
Felicity (Shailene Woodley) is a young girl growing up in "Thireen Colonies" in the 1770s. The year is 1775 and she had just had her tenth birthday.
She likes horses and likes to ride. When she finds a neighbor mistreating his horse sneaks out at night and rides him whenever she can. Eventually she becomes close to the horse and vows to free him from his abusive neighbor. She is also concerned about a friend who wants to fight in the upcoming war.
One thing I couldn't help notice about this movie are the crazy dresses women wore in the 1700s. They look uncomfortable and unruly to say the least.Heartwarming Family Film - fairweather
If you liked "Little Women", "Little House on the Praire", "Flicka" and "Dreamer" this fits that tradition. Set in Virginia just after the famous Tea Party at Boston, there are some tensions between loyalists to the crown and American Patriots. Felicity's family has both loyalists and patriots and her best friend is a loyalist. Felicity befriends and protects a horse she names Penny from a cruel neighbor and learns about justice and the importance of keeping your word. A good family film and worth watching, the acting is excellent and engaging and the film doesn't lag. Recommended.
