Tristan & Isolde
Before Romeo & Juliet, there was...
The medieval legend of a princess (Sophia Myles) and warrior's (James Franco) love affair, which threatens to tear apart an uneasy peace between England and Ireland. A tale of epic battles, royal intrigue and a timeless, star-crossed passion.

I really liked this movie. I had no idea what to expect and found it very similar to the King Arthur story with the love triangle between him Guinnevere and Lancelot. I thought it was refreshing, slightly predictable but still a good love story. Loved the parts where they were in Ireland.Romeo & Juliet eat your heart out - DM1-
This movie is a Romeo & Juliet-type movie set in an adaptation of a timeless story of love, passion, and honor as rooted in British/Celtic mythology as solidly as the love triangle of Arthur, Guinevere and Lancelot, and it is easy to see that this theme is what prevails in the plot of the movie. The fight scenes are well choreographed. Sophia Myles (who plays Isolde) was so beautiful, so virginal, so pure, with her tears and her smiles so genuine she nearly made me cry. Romeo and Juliet eat your heart out, this movie’s your story’s equivalent in today’s times…Beautiful epic - cd--
This haunting tragic love story was beautifully shot and the actors did an amazing job of bringing the mystical characters to life. I especially liked King Marke's character - he was an excellent father figure for Tristan and a source of Tristan's pain and guilt for loving Isolde. The sweeping scenes of Ireland added to the beauty of the cinematography.
