The Escapist
He can escape from anything. Except his past.
Denis (Jonny Lee Miller), a man whose life is shattered by a single criminal act in which his young wife is killed in a bungled break-in attempt by a career criminal called Ricky Barnes (Andy Serkis). Denis, for whom life up to then had seemed perfect, cannot cope with his loss, and dedicates his life to tracking down the man responsible. It is a pursuit which requires him not only to be sent to jail, but to be sent to the worst - or, as the prison service would have it, the most secure - jail in Britain: Sullen Voe.

I guess if you're looking for escapist entertainment and don't want to be hampered by a plot that holds any credibility, then look no further as you've come across just such a movie. Now I'm not saying that this isn't a good bit of entertainment, it just lacks in so many areas. Johnny Lee Miller has a very distinctive face, has quite good acting skills, and yet this movie just sort of falls flat. The action sequences are not very active and Johnny just seems to be rather wooden in all of this. This is one of those movies where you actually wish that they had placed someone, like say The Rock or even Hulk Hogan, to be the central character. So if that's the wish then imagine how poor the movie is if those would be an "upgrade". Rent at your discretion now that you know this.
