Aquamarine
A fish-out-of-water comedy.
Two young girls who hang out at a beach club near their home discover Aquamarine (Sara Paxton), a mermaid, in the pool after a storm. Aquamarine falls in love with the boy who works at the food bar and begs the girls to set her up with him.

I was actually estatic when this tween movie aired on a local cable station... But to my dismay i was unimpressed and completly disapointed.
I like Jo-jo and Emma Robertson but this movie didn't make a dent of goodness for there career. I found it missing that special something, which diferentiated it from all other tween flicks.Splash for Tweens - Melanie1
I will be the first one to admit that I love cheesy, sappy movies. Splash was one of my all-time favorites. What's not to love about a movie with a middle-aged man dropping coins on the floor to look up women's dresses?
So when I first saw this movie, I was ecstatic. Surely, even though I am nearing thirty, this movie was one that I could love.
How far we have fallen.
I cannot be altogether certain if it was the movie's poor acting or an uninspired script that put me off right from the beginning. Maybe it simply was the fact that I'm older and married now and find it impossible to relate to thirteen-year-olds prone to giggling fits.
I am one of those people who are determined to get my money's worth, so I watched the entire movie through. And as I continued to watch, I was surprisingly drawn into the storyline. Amidst all the frivolty, a very important moral can be seen emerging, one which I think would be important for any growing young girl to learn - and it wasn't just how to accessorize.
While the movie is centered around young love, the underlying message is about the importance of friendship, of learning to trust others, as well as learning to trust oneself.
I would not be recommending this to anyone who is looking for the next Pretty Woman or Dirty Dancing. But I would highly recommend it to anyone with children just beginning their teenage years, and teenagers themselves.
So while I walked away from this movie somewhat unsatisfied, I walked away with the knowledge that had I seen this movie when I was thirteen, it would have been embedded in my mind as the best movie ever!Teen flick - SAJ-
My thirteen year old daughter loved this one. I absolutely hated it - one of the worst I have seen in a long time. I usually like a light hearted comedy with a little romance - but Aquamarine was so corny and so predictable that I couldn't take it anymore! You knew precisely what was about to happen around every corner, where it was going, and exactly how it was going to end. It is geared for young teenage girls and if you're not between the ages of 10 and 16, don't bother...
