Love Is Written In the Stars

West Side Story goes East in this heartwarming homage to Bollywood musicals about two star-crossed lovers crossing cultures, families and the law.

Nineteen year old Geena (Preeya Kalidas, Bend It Like Beckham) longs for life to be more like the romance and adventure of her beloved Bollywood movies. She is entranced by the glamour of Bollywood and seduced by the sounds of R&B girl groups. Secretly, Geena has formed a vocal trio with her two best friends, Anji and Neeta.

When Geena has an unexpected encounter with Jay, she finds that love can be just as enthralling as the songs on the silver screen suggest. The pair's liaisons around London's East Side must be kept secret. Not only is Jay off limits as far as Geena's two over-protective brothers, Sanjay (Amerjit Deu) and Anil (Ray Panthaki), are concerned, he works for a rival garment manufacturer. Then there is the ongoing issue of Geena's family-approved yet dull boyfriend Dillip (Ronny Jhutti). Likewise Jay's brother Dead (Ciaran McMenamin) is unimpressed with Jay's sudden desire for an Asian girl.

The two find themselves in the midst of a vicious turf war over the lucrative but illegal trade in fake designer wear. Faced with a choice between family loyalties and their love, the two escape to the wild west of Jay's native Somerset.

Will there be a happy ending, or will Geena and Jay discover that happy endings don't always turn out like the movies?
