four very strong shorts - 2commit
This is one of the few compilations without a weak link. Each film is beautifully executed in every way—technical production, writing, acting—everything comes together and provides a really wonderful whole. Late Summer, in particular, will break your heart with its beauty and elegance.an early look at two good directors' work - surfer
This collection is worth a look primarily because two of the short films provide an early taste of feature films their directors went on to make.
Fishbelly White by Michael Burke is a 22-minute version of a story he would expand into his 2003 feature film The Mudge Boy starring Emile Hirsch. The short contains much of the feel of the later feature and is almost as good.
Eytan Fox provides an early glimpse in his 1990 short film Time Off (called After on imdb) of his later 2002 feature film Yossi & Jagger. This is not the same story, but contains many similar elements and you can see how over a 12 year gestation it could become the feature film in which a popular Israeli soldier and his superior officer are lovers.
The other two short films are alright, but really the only reason watch this is as a prelude to the later work these first two talented directors would produce.Enjoyed it... - Yukoner
I thought this one was great. All of the stories were good, and the acting decent. I enjoyed Dare as it was a reflection of my high school years (or what I wish had happened), and the other shorts were good too. There is one point in one of the stories that SHOCKED me, but I cannot tell anymore cause I may give away something but it was a shock to say the least...
