Dirty
Violence is a language people understand.
In the tradition of Training Day and Man on Fire, Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding, Jr. (Jerry Maguire) stars in this hard-edged story of a gangbanger turned cop who is forced to choose between his conscience and his loyalty to the code of blue all in the course of one day.
Having been a gangbanger at only 10 years old, Armando Sancho (Clifton Collins, Jr., Capote) always found acceptance in being a part of a group. The only thing better than king of the street? – a gangster with a badge. Recruited into an undercover, rogue anti-gang unit of the LAPD at only 28 years old, Sancho brings his street smarts into the force that he swore to protect.
But the line between loyalty and protection becomes blurred when one night on a routine investigation, Sancho’s partner Salim (Gooding) kills an innocent man. Unable to deal with his partner’s actions and haunted by his conscience, Sancho agrees to testify against his superiors regarding the ongoing criminal enterprises of his squad in exchange for immunity for the murder.
As the hours wear on, Sancho’s resolve begins to fade. The IA agents inform him his deal is off unless he can also bring in his partner to corroborate his testimony. Faced with a seemingly impossible task, Sancho realizes for the first time the enormity of the decision he has made.

If you want to kill an hour and a half sometime it might be great fun to put in this movie just to count the number of times they use the word mother@#$%!er. I’m sure it sets a record. Need I say I didn’t like the movie?
I could not for the life of me get a handle on the true nature of its two main characters. Were they dirty with a conscience, dirty and naive, naive with a sense of entitlement, tainted by encounters with racism? The same goes for the interactions between the two. Were they friends, enemies, afraid of each other? Did they respect each other’s opinion or were they too self absorbed to care or even realize they had reason to fear the other? Then there were all the peripheral characters to sort out, some of which turned out to be less peripheral then we first thought. Let’s drop it there.
Now, I grant you, some of the elements contributing to my confusion were purposeful in setting up the final twist, which seems to be the whole point of this movie. I just didn't find the journey worth the carrot. By the time we get there, it seems more like a stick of celery. Not sure what to think? - fuzlee
I have mixed emotions regarding this film. I really don't enjoy a whole bunch of "Dirty" words. Language could have been a wee bit less harsh. All the negative name calling is something we can all do without. Definately full of action but at times hard to follow. Not sure who is the bad guy and who is really the good guy. Not sorry I watched it though I have seen alot worse in my time. I am not going to say it's not worth watching....if nothing else available....go for it.Wannabe Training Day - Joel1
Wanting to cash in on the success of the great Training Day, Dirty is the story of two "dirty" cops wanting something more in life. Taking place over the course of one day, Cuba tries to resemble a hardcore gangbanger/cop but frankly falls quite short. His street accent is laughable at best which marrs his record of amazing appearances in other movies! Collins does a better job at being the dirty cop with a conscience, but unfortunately is not strong enough to hold the movie.
Some appearances by Wyclef Jean, and Black Eyed Peas member (not sure his name) are weak attempts to spice up the story.
Overall this movie is trying to be something it just isn't. If you're looking for a training day copout (no pun intended) you'll find it here. There is nothing hardcore, intense, or dark about this movie, just another film to pay an actor's bills.
Noteable scene: Since when did the Hell's Angels (Biker Gang) become retarded hockey stick weilding surfer/hippies? Mild poke at Canadians eh?
Don't waste your time, unless you want something utterly mindless to watch while you're sleeping..
