Malcolm
This award-winning comedy from New Zealand is about a reclusive young man who has a remarkable talent for inventing mechanical contraptions. When he is befriended by his boarders, an ex-criminal and his lover, they attempt to pull off an ingenious bank robbery using Malcolm's technical expertise. The film's soundtrack is particularly delightful.

What a charming little film. The laughs are genuine and explosive, the tenderness pervasive, and the wonderful surprises are endless.
Malcolm is one interesting character. When he is first introduced he seems a bit sad and gloomy. In fact, Malcolm doesn't do too well outside his comfort zone. What gets his passion going is streetcars. He knows all about the streetcar system in his hometown, he works with streetcars and he plays with them. Malcolm is also quite ingenious. He can McGyver anything, and this leads to hilarious moments when he gets a couple of roomates who are up to no good and need Malcolm's help. Malcolm ends up being the mastermind, and what a plan he cooks up!
Warning: if you have any interest in seeing this film, do not look it up on the net. There are some dvd covers that include a picture that gives away one of the best scenes in the film.
