Slither
The sleepy town of Wheelsy could be any small town in America - somewhat quaint and gentle, peopled with friendly folks who mind their own business. But just beneath the surface charm, something unnamed and evil has arrived...and is growing. No one seems to notice as telephone poles become clogged with missing pet flyers, or when one of the town's richest citizens, Grant Grant (Michael Rooker), begins to act strangely.
But when farmers' livestock turn up horribly mutilated and a young woman goes missing, Sheriff Bill Pardy (Nathan Fillion) and his team, aided by Grant's wife Starla (Elizabeth Banks), uncover the dark force laying siege to their town... and come face-to-face with an older-than-time organism intent on absorbing and devouring all life on Earth.

80s retro horror lives on! - RobBC
When a meteorite crashes in the middle of hick town USA (Vancouver!!) it's carrying a most unusual passenger; a slimy barb-shooting slug with a voracious appetite for fresh meat and a frightening ability to control people's minds. Soon pets are disappearing, the town millionaire is sporting a couple of tentacles and the local tramp has been turned into a corpulent bug factory. Will the woefully inexperienced police chief and his band of bumbling deputies be able to destroy the outer space menace before it destroys us? James Gunn's loving homage to 80s horror flicks borrows heavily from the likes of "Alien", "Night Of The Living Dead" and "The Thing". His winning combination of amazing special effects and old-fashioned storytelling has produced a wonderful mix of chilling shocks, deadpan humour and enough spewing blood and mucus to satisfy even the most ardent gorehounds. One of the better popcorn movies I've seen in some time. Be sure and watch it all the way through to the very end (after the credits finish).fast-paced, witty, scary - clauditorium
A small-town sheriff struggles to prevent an alien invasion. This horror-comedy borrows liberally from Sam Raimi, David Cronenberg, Stuart Gordon, and many others, but it does so knowingly, and still manages to feel original. Smartly written, fast-paced, witty, scary, and very gory.Truly Humorous Comedy Horror - Plan_B
After watching too many bad horrors lately this one comes out a gem. Don't expect fear and tense situations but rather, enjoy the campy B movie plot with surprisingly decent effects, great tongue in cheek humour and and some awesome dialog that had me thinking "Finally a script where people actually say the things that a real person would say".
From the opening clip of the forest flythrough ending on a cracking alien egg along with the title, you'll get the feel of the movie and be able to see that at least the director intends it to be funny rather than have that come out as a mistaken by-product.
My girlfriend was threatening to go read her newly found excellent book (River God, by Wilbur Smith) rather than watch another of my "crappy horrors" but she got sucked in and watched the whole thing laughing along with the rest of us.
Favorite Line: as the the laid back police chief watches worm-brained zombies attack people and chase his friends-> "'Sigh' My easy going nature is beginning to be sorely f@&%in tested".
I give this 5 stars *within its genre* so do NOT watch it and say complain that this is no dramatic masterpiece...but if you like horror and can tolerate some gooey-grossness and gore, this is 100% worth a watch.
