American Dreamz
Everyone's gotta have...
On the morning of his re-election, the President (Dennis Quaid) decides to read the newspaper for the first time in four years. This starts him down a slippery slope. He begins reading obsessively, re-examining his black and white view of the world, holing up in his bedroom in his pajamas. Frightened by the President's apparent nervous breakdown, his Chief of Staff (Willem Dafoe) pushes him back into the spotlight, booking him as a guest judge on the television ratings juggernaut (and the President's personal fave), the weekly talent show American Dreamz.
America can't seem to get enough of American Dreamz, hosted by self-aggrandizing, self-loathing Martin Tweed (Hugh Grant), ever on the lookout for the next insta-celebrity. His latest crop of hopefuls includes Sally (Mandy Moore), a conniving steel magnolia with a devoted, dopey veteran boyfriend (Chris Klein), and Omer, a recent Southern Californian immigrant (who just happens to be a bumbling, show tune singing, would-be terrorist awaiting activation). When both Sally and Omer make it to the final round of Dreamz - where the President will be judging along with Tweed - the stage is set for a show the nation will never forget.

Great Satire..! :) - bbell
I really liked the idea of this movie, even though it was a bit over the top, that just made it more funny..! It is obviously making fun of all those reality shows out there, especially American Idol, which was great!! I am really not a fan of that show, nor any of these "reality" shows, as they are not a depiction of reality in any way, shape or form....anyway, enjoy this movie for what it is: a great satire!! :)Painful to watch - Morguene
Oh my god!! Apparently all the good scenes were in the trailer. This is one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time. The idea was great and the potential was high, but the writers dropped the ball. Was not at all what it appeared to be on the preview. I kept watching to the end thinking it just had to improve at some point, but apparently it did not. Please don't bother - it's really not worth the time or energy to watch.Disappointing! - cath
I usually enjoy this type of movie but not this one! Ok, so the idea behind the movie was interesting; commenting on how unrealistic reality shows are and how the media twist everything. And I was expecting to be plesantly entertained because of the great cast, but what a disappointment. I think the actors played their parts well, but the director could have done a much, much better job. This movie was just plain. There was nothing special about it. I don't recommend it.
