The Sentinel
In 141 years, there's never been a traitor in the Secret Service... Until now.
When a colleague is murdered, Secret Service agent Pete Garrison (Michael Douglas) is put in charge of the investigation. But Garrison himself becomes a suspect after he is blackmailed by someone who knows of his affair with the first lady.
Stripped of his duties and now a fugitive, Garrison races to prove his innocence and save the president's life.

Far Fetched, but Exciting - crazyboutmovies
The Sentinel is a cleverly written thriller. Michael Douglas and Keefer Sutherland gave convincing portrayals of their respective roles in this action packed story.
Some might find the story a bit far fetched, but I feel that this is, after all, a movie. One can say the same thing about the plot of any James Bond movie, or the plot of "24", but that does not stop us from enjoying them.
After all, movie is as much entertainment as it is art.Good, but for... - Bill3
If you're in the mood for an "assinate the president" movie then rent this. Other than that it ain't much. A lot in this film falls under the "suspension of disbelief" category, i.e. why is the Michael Douglas character sleeping with the First Lady, and why doesn't the President know it (this president seems so lifeless and clueless maybe he should be assassinated); why did the assassins alert everyone to their mission by shooting the SS agent on his doorstep, why does the Kiefer Sutherland character think that Michael Douglas slept with his wife as well (maybe it's Douglas' reputation), and why is Eva Longria even in this movie?
The action is great as one would expect in this genre - except that Sutherland is doing nothing but rehashing his Jack Bauer/24 role - shouting at everyone and threatening to blow their heads off - the scenes are tightly edited and overall it's an eminently watchable movie.
As Douglas walks away from the White House at the film's end, one can only suspect that eventually this president will be out of office, his wife will leave him, and she and Douglas will live happily ever after in Toronto, the place where he saved her life (as the President fled "Good luck, honey"), and where anyone can immigrate. The Sentinel - TwoBoggySwampers
I'm not sure why so many of the reviews on this movie are as poor as they are. Granted, it isn't the most inventive and unique story out there, but it didn't seem awful. There were a few lulls here and there like most other movies have, sure. Overall, though, it was well paced and active enough to keep things rolling. And, although there was some predictability throughout, the ending was anything but. When it's all said and done, it turns out to be an average film. I don't think that it deserves to be completely avoided because of that. If anything, the actors in it are great.
