A total waste of time. The story is dumb, the acting is poor, the end is predictable, and the special effects are silly. And those are the nice things I can say about this movie. What is even worse is that they seem to have run out of time filming at the end so they ad libbed an ending that hinted at a romance between the guy and girl. This movie was so lousy that even the director and actors could not wait to wrap it up!
Best part of the movie... the two stars fall in the water, and mysteriously scuba dive gear follows them into the water, already connected and ready for breathing. It just fell into the water... like manna from heaven. And that happened twice! That should give you an idea of how silly this movie was.Cuba Gooding, J.R. ?? - c4th
End Game teams up Cuba Gooding Jr (He is identified in the opening credits as Cuba Gooding, J.R. I assume this a goof by some techie.) as a secret service agent assigned to the president with Angie Harmon as a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist. The two face much peril as they attempt to uncover a conspiracy behind the assassination of the president, which occurs very near the completion of his term. Those responsible for the crime demonstrate no boundaries disposing of loose ends.
The primary stars play off each other exceptionally well. As they take us through thrilling action scenes with a rising body count created by director and respected stunt man Andy Cheng (often doubles for Jackie Chan), their light banter and situational humour provides a balancing contrast. Recognizable stars, including James Woods, Burt Reynolds and Anne Archer, also provide solid performances from the movie’s well rounded talent base.
The writing receives a lot of criticism from reviewers, particularly for its ending. Some may feel they’ve been had by the red herrings but these are essential to the overall premise. Suppose the president is assassinated and national security concerns plus human nature’s love affair with conspiracy theory caused a critical misdirection in the investigation.
If willing to suspend believability for ninety minutes, action lovers will find the plot sound enough to enjoy the thrilling entertainment offered by this action packed conspiracy thriller.End Game - End Movie would be a better title... - FoxieRoxie
OK, I'm not usually too harsh on movies, but this one righteously blows. The acting isn't that great (not bad, but not great), the action scenes are laughable (low budget?) and the script was dribble. The premise of the movie was good - had it been directed & edited better, I'm sure it could have been a good movie, but there were so many mistakes, cliches and unimportant scenes. It seemed like a poorly produced high school play. I can't believe I watched until the end (which was extra stupid). If you enjoy movies, DON'T rent this one...!
