This film presents a unique retrospective on the island that made New York the center of civilization for the first half of the 20th century. Although history is one of my passions, I have never been to NYC and so I really enjoyed the interesting facts and history about not only the island but the city as well as that part of the century. There are also some very interesting quotations from people of the time, read by the likes of John Mahoney ("Frasier"), Jerry Orbach ("Law and Order"), and Nathan Lane (The Birdcage" and "The Producers"). Al Lewis ("The Munsters") is also brilliant in providing a semi-narrative role. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys history, NYC, or the history of NYC ... ;)
