Category 7: The End Of The World
The storm of global proportions is coming!
In this hair-raising sequel to Category Six: Day of Destruction, mankind's survivial against the elements is pushed to the limits...
All across the globe, an unprecedented Category 6 storm decends with greater force than could have ever been imagined. The Eiffel Tower is shredded by violent winds; the Great Pyramids are reduced to piles of rubble as twisting, black funnels snake across the desert. For years scientists have been expounding theories - and warnings - of global warming trends. Now these warnings are coming true with a frightening ferocity. But though it may have created regions of volatile and extreme weather, global warming isn't what triggered the terrible temptest. The cause is unknown.
As various regions of the Earth succumb to the increasingly powerful super storm, beautiful but discredited scientist Faith Clavell (Shannen Doherty, TV's Charmed) teams up with storm chaser Tommy Tornado (Emmy Award nominee Randy Quaid, Elvis) and head of FEMA Judith Carr (Gina Gershon, Face/Off), to determine the trigger and eliminate it - and that means infiltrating the storm itself.
Compounding the chaos, a terrorist organization is threatening to make the situation worse. Now it's not only man against nature, but man against man as the newly-intensified Category 7 approaches - and possibly, the end of the world.

Civilization Doomed by Epic Storms? - TimI
Increasingly severe storms threaten the very existence of civilization.
NOTE: The film is in two parts, both on the same disc
The Good:
1. Top flight cast, with Randy Quaid, Gina Gershon and Robert Wagner being particularly good.
2. The specialy effects are top notch, and convincing, especially the opening scene in Paris. Several major cities are destroyed in the course of the movie.
3. The sound is very well done, especially if you have a powerful sub-woofer. At times Catergory 7 almost makes you feel like you have as storm going on in your room.
4. Category 7 moves at a quick pace and is seldom boring.
The bad:
1. Stereotyped characters, epecially the evangelist portrayed by James Brolin, and Kenneth Welsh as the evil Secretary of State who is owned by the energy lobby.
2. The science is highly suspect (as usual with these sorts of movies.)
3. This film is far too long. Eliminating the many unnecessary subplots could have reduced the movie from 169 minutes to less than 120 minutes.
4. Category 7 has way too many subplots that detract from the film and difuse the urgency of the central plot.
5. Repetative scenes of storms destroying cities get dull after a while. There are only so many different ways you can show a tornado destroying buildings.
Bottom Line:
An enjoyable flick for fan of the disater movie genre. It Was Alright - Cybie
I dont think wyld realized that part 2 was on the same disc..
It had some good effects and an alright story..
I enjoyed it, but then I love disaster movies like this.
Another one I liked was 10.5 and 10.5 Apocalypse.. so if you liked this one.. you may like those two as wellA little disapointed - wyld
The movie bounces around to different characters in such a way that it leaves you a little unsettled and feeling like you have to really keep track of things or you will miss an important piece of dialogue or something you will need later on. Just when you think the movie is getting better and more interesting, you get "To Be Continued" and since the next one isn't out yet, you end up feeling let down.
