Ladies and Gentlemen... Mr. Leonard Cohen
An early look at the Canadian icon.
Produced in 1965, this is an informal portrait of the Montréal poet, novelist, and songwriter, Leonard Cohen. He is seen reading his poetry to a rapt audience and also alone and relaxing with family and friends. On the verge of pop stardom that would blur the boundary between song and poem, Cohen here reveals the sources for his jeweled imagery of violence, yearning, despair and sexuality.

I've rented this title before from Blockbuster, and it left me bitterly dissappointed. First of all, there is no actual music in the film, just clips - mostly of him talking.. While I enjoy his wit, his charm, and his ideas in general - I was hoping to atleast hear the man sing.. no luck. The four sub-films in this documentary are well done, however, I still could not help feeling cheated by what I mentioned above.Very poor - Anka
First of all - Cohen does not sing in the movie. The movie is quite old, so do not expect to learn to much about the artist. Those are just the beginnings of his carear. He does some "funny" talk which did not make me laugh. I found the movie boring and could not even watch it to the end.Frustrating - XTRUClerk
No comment on Leonard, I love him, but what is this nonsense? This is the second day in a row that Zip has recommended a DVD on their menu page that they don't even have available to rent! All I see is the little truck icon that means Zip has ordered it, and judging by discs that I've been waiting for, that little truck can stay there A LONG TIME! Truly, it's frustrating for Zip to do this, I see a title, read their comments, think, Huh, okay, looks interesting, and when I go to add it to my rental list I FIND OUT THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE IT! Knock it off already!
Correction:
Aha! Finally in! Rent away!
