Go Ask Alice
Desperate for attention, a shy high school girl takes up with a crowd of drug users and is drawn into a world of narcotics, alcohol and prostitution. After-school special - Nisi
I read the book _Go Ask Alice_ many years ago. It was an interesting account (though likely a fictional story) of a girl who gets involved with drugs.
The movie conflates a few incidents in the book and deletes some events (I recall that her grandparents pass away in the book), but I don't think it harms the story much.
It definitely has an "after-school special" feeling to it, and the style is not very smooth. However, the acting is fairly believable, even if the outfits aren't!Good movie, better book - pezliz
After reading "Go Ask Alice" years ago, I heard of the movie, and always wanted to see it, so I was pleased to find it on Zip.
A made-for-tv-movie with an interesting ensemble gives the story a mood of nostalgia, and the message gets a little lost, especially with the "drug lingo."
If you were a child of the era, you will still enjoy it!Go Ask Alice - D6--
I read the diary a long time ago when I was a kid, and to see the movie now brought back all the memories of reading the book. I think if you have ever read the book then you MUST see the movie. The movie goes into more detail of what happened after she stopped writing in the diary.
