Masters of Horror: Deer Woman
From John Landis, Director of "An American Werewolf in London"
Detective Dwight Faraday (Brian Benben) is a burntout cop demoted to the ‘weird calls’ desk until a series of bizarre murders suddenly grabs his attention: Several men killed by massive blunt force trauma while in a state of sexual arousal, all last seen in the company of a sexy Native American woman (Cinthia Moura). But when it’s discovered that these corpses were trampled into hamburger by what appear to be hooves, Faraday must hunt a killer who may not be totally human. Will one cynical cop be caught like a deer in the headlights or has a horrifying seductress risen from legend to slaughter the horny? Anthony Griffith co-stars in this erotic horror comedy co-written and directed by John Landis (Animal House, The Blues Brothers) and featuring grisly gore effects by Gregory Nicotero & Howard Berger (Kill Bill, Land of the Dead, Chronicles of Narnia).

A bit of horror but absolutely hilarious - Coconut_Willy
I don't always enjoy the horror/comedy mixture as it often ends up going so much over the top that it's not funny anymore. Not the case here. It is a horror story with some gore scenes but what makes it really funny is the play from the main characters. The general concept is a bit ridiculous but it just serves as a backdrop as the production team does not try to elaborate too much on it. The horror side of it is sufficiently developed but more than anything else, the cast makes the comedy side work quite well. The main characters are very good, doing a good acting job with a very good dialogue. Benben in particular is excellent. The sets and locations are good, the soundtrack and the camera work appropriate. In my opinion, this is a very good episode if you like your horror with a fun twist.Silly, yes. But fun. - ccblazer
An hour of pure fun, courtesy of John Landis. A deer woman, hates men, kills them. Quite the plot. If he keeps it light then it works and it sure does. Funny characters, dialog, all make for pure entertainment. Thew cops are hysterical, the deer woman a knockout. Dive in, but don't take it too seriously, otherwise you'll take all the fun out of it.More silly than scary, but good - XTRUClerk
Okay, keeping in mind that John Landis directed this one, you pretty much get exactly what you pay for. When Brian Benben actually compares his case to that of "a man-sized wolf that killed people in London a few years back" you know this is more comedy than horror, nevermind the precense of Benben himself (best know for his role in HBO's Dream on, which John Landis is more or less responsible for). When the Deer woman seems more interested in showing her breasts than finding her nexy victim, you definately feel like you are watching Dream on rather than Werewolf in London. Still, there's a good vibe here, it feels for the most part like an episode of The Night Stalker, with Benben coming to the only possible, though highly unlikely, conclusion about his case. Plenty of nudity, homor and low gore factor make this less for the horror crowd than the dark comedy fan but it's still fairly entertaining. Cheers.
