An Inconvenient Truth
By far the most terrifying film you will ever see.
A passionate look at former Vice President Al Gore's fervent crusade to halt global warming's deadly progress in its tracks by exposing the myths and misconceptions that surround it. In the wake of defeat in the 2000 election, Gore re-set the course of his life to focus on a last-ditch, all-out effort to help save the planet from irrevocable change.
In this portrait of Gore and his "traveling global warming show," Gore also proves himself to be one of the most misunderstood characters in modern American public life. Here he is seen as never before in the media -- funny, engaging, open and downright on fire about getting the surprisingly stirring truth about what he calls our "planetary emergency" out to ordinary citizens before it's too late.

Have seen rebutle documentries and this seems to hold the most merit in my books. Gore is a smart and savvy man whos intention is to promote global warming awareness. Definitely a must see, everybody should do their part.A truly epic movie - Webrat18
Being what I personally consider to be an environmentally conscious person – I recycle, I walk to work, I turn off the lights when I leave a room, I turn down the thermostat before bed, I grow a cook’s garden, and I own a hybrid car – I found myself completely dumbfounded by An Inconvenient Truth. I always knew that climate change would be one of the big problems facing my generation (thank you very much baby boomers), afterall, mine is the generation that was raised through a school system that taught as part of the curriculum the importance of recycling, composting, reusing and reducing waste. To this day I actually find myself sickened when I see someone throw out a perfectly recyclable or returnable can or bottle.
However, the sheer magnitude of the problem was never really evident to me. I always assumed that since I was raised this way, surely so was the rest of the world, at least the rest of the developed world. Evidently this is not the case. In fact the amount of environmental ignorance is unfathomable. The fact that we can look out our windows and see the signs should be indication enough. I can remember in my childhood when we used to play hockey on the well-manicured outdoor rinks at the local parks. Now the city does not even bother to put up the boards as they have come to realize that it has been several years since the last time it actually got cold enough to have ice, let alone the several inches required for an outdoor rink.
All this being said the movie has compelled me to action. I have now realized that as a rather moderate environmentalist it is up to me and people like me to raise our voices and make ourselves heard. We are not the left-wing, tree hugging hippies from the fringes of society that many in the political debate like to paint environmental activists as. We are the core of society. We are the majority. Mr. Gore has taken the first major step. He has correctly appreciated that education is the key, but it is now up tA movie to watch - JA--
Very interesting, and well presented. I like facts and figures, and he presents a lot of them. I had my doubts so did a bit of checking after seeing the movie and according to everything I have found his statistics are all correct. It has left me feeling a little hopeless and wondering how we can get ourselves out of this mess. I will be encouraging everyone to watch this movie, and will try to continue to make changes in my life - although they seem insignificant. What a different world we might have right now if he was president it of the USA.
