Scoop
The perfect man. The perfect story. The perfect murder.
The late U.K. journalist Joe Strombel is being mourned by his colleagues even as, stuck in limbo, Joe remains committed to pursuing a hot tip on the identity of "the Tarot Card Killer" at large in London. But how can his legwork get done now? Via the very much alive Sondra Pransky. Sondra is an American journalism student visiting friends in London. During a stage performance by another American, magician Sid Waterman, Sondra is shocked to find herself able to see and hear Joe. From beyond, he gives her the scoop of a lifetime and urges her to pursue it. Sondra immediately starts chasing the big story enlisting the aid of a reluctant Sid.

If you suspend disbelief for 90 minutes and are just set on being entertained, this is a very good movie.
I have come to enjoy Woody Allen movies over the years and this is a good one. The acting is solid and the story is entertaining.
There were a few moments that almost threw off my interest, but, all in all, this is a very good movie.Interesting story - thenewguy
Scoop follows a young journalist, Sondra, who is tipped off about a murder by the ghost of a late journalist. Following the tip, Sondra gets to know the suspect, Peter.
As Sondra and her new friend, Sid, follow Peter, befriend him and dig into his life, Sondra finds herself increasingly attracted to Peter.
The film has a light, comedic feeling, despite the subject matter of murder and intrigue. Jackman and Johansson both put in strong performances. Unfortunately, the film's biggest drawback is also its creature, Allen. His bumbling, stuttering act begins as amusing, but its over-use quickly gets in the way of the film, slowing it down.
The movie has a good story and some good, one-liner humour. A sort of light, amusing murder mystery.Good story ruined by lame dialogue - bandneedsbeer
I found the murder mystery aspect of Scoop to be very engaging, and Hugh Jackman was an excellent English gentleman/murder suspect. Woody Allen, playing the same character he does in every movie, hams it up in every scene, and turns what could have been a clever story into a silly movie with jokes that fall flat. Scarlett Johansson does her best with the material, but comes across as whiny and dull, especially in the scenes with Allen. Their chemistry is nonexistent, a sharp contrast to her work with Bill Murray in Lost In Translation (Murray would have been fantastic in Allen's role).
