This movie is something both me and my husband can watch. It has just the right amount of fighting to keep him awake without me looking away half of the time. Putting a scene of of his final fight at the beginning of the movie, made you want to finish it to see how it ended. However, otherwise the story was pretty predictable and sometimes even boring.
Too bad they didn't do a better job translating the movie. Reading the subtitles will just distract from the actual scene, and the english version is monotone.
All in all it's a desent movie to watch, but nothing to rave about.Jet Li's last movie - nixx
I'm not a Jet Li fan, but I have seen many chinese martial arts movies. I would rate this as one of my top 5 favorites.
This movie has breath-taking action, character development, and good storyline. Most action movies you can predict the ending, but this one leaves you guessing whats next.
Remember to watch the extra DVD highlights with the interview with Jet Li. He lived an amazing life just like a modern day Bruce Lee, but Jet Li is smart to retire at the top of his prime.Rare - wiz81
It's rare for a martial arts movie to move you....but this is one of them. I certainly think that Mr Li is underated as a actor. He makes such a glorious transition in the film from arrogant kid to martial arts master who has lost everything and no fights for something greater than himself. Kudos for including a great many varied fighting styles in the movie and not make it feel forced. ( spearmen from the british lancers....brilliant, wrestler from the States...very cool...holy cow is that guy big...forced perspective??? )
Anyway....all I got to say is that in that the last fight has you deeply caring for both the fighters and yes.....I shed tears everytime the movie ends....it's beautiful martial arts in the true sense of the word.
