Not bad as a dvd. Somewhat entertaining but WAY too short and some parts a bit confusing the dvd menu that is. Would recommand it but personally think my son was too young to even bother. He didn't even paid attention once. It teaches a lot animals , who to trust etcWhat took so long? - TheShamus
The DVD is a perfect format for the popular children's books, "Choose Your Own Adventure". The DVD allows you to make quick decisions during the story, and the DVD will quickly take you to the next part of the movie depending on your selection. This is very similar to the old "Laser Disc" technology which was used on games like "Dragon's Lair" or "Space Ace". If the viewer does not make a selection in a certain amount of time, a random selection will be made on the viewer' behalf.
"The Abominable Snowman" is a story squarely aimed at the 6 to 12 year old demographic. This is not an "adult story". This is an animated feature. As a parent, I didn't find the story very appealing ... a lot of action, that to me, did not feel very exciting. I guess that's why it is aimed at kids.
The animation was functional ... similar to what you might expect from a cartoon like, "Go! Giego, Go!". The bottom line ... kids will love the interactive nature of the technology. It makes me wonder what took so long for a company to come out with this. Mind you -- production must be expensive, since they must make so much extra footage to change portions of the endings.
As a parent, I like the idea of a show which is truly interactive. It has to at least make a child think, instead of blindly stare at the television. There is room for improvement in the series ... and I think "live action" could also work as opposed to animation.
