Not a good film. - Cruce
So I read the other reviews, and I have to say, that "fantastic film" is completely out to lunch. There is some good acting. There is some good camera work. There is some provocative imagery. All in an "art film" kind of a way. Underneath it all, is a tiresome plot about a charismatic leader abusing his authority, and the predictable individual triumphing over group-think. Unfortunately for this movie, the real life stories of cults and cult leaders are much more provocative than this - and provide deeper better insight into the sub-culture.resuscitation is required for this move. - dajhorn
This movie gave me the nagging feeling that it had all been done before, but it was so tiresome that I daydreamed through most of it.
Teenage angst... Check.
Washed-out 'mood' cinematography... Check.
Unbelievable left-wing 'radicals'... Check.
Completely pointless plot twist... Check.
So far, the Canadian Film Festival Collection has been disappointing.hope springs a leak.. - movie_hound
Well, after seeing HARD CANDY I had to check out the debut feature of the main actor. I had high hopes for this film - streetless folk armed with radical knowledge - let's hope it hits the strain of anarchists in Amsterdam in the 60's or some radically environmentally and politically conscious youth claiming a rightful place by living creatively and outside the mainstream.
No such luck. These youth - and the adults that accompany them - are about as awake as a sloth and as political as a toddler.
Radical? no, not even close.
I couldn't even watch it the whole way through - not too long into it, I realized it was not going to improve.
Sorry to say but this film is trash. not even worth recycling.
