The Dead Zone
Christopher Walken stars in this tense, gripping adaptation of Stephen King's best-selling novel, The Dead Zone. One fateful night, Johnny Smith (Walken) smashes head-on into an enormous truck. For five long years, Johnny is plunged into a deep coma. When he awakens, he discovers that his youth, his career and his fiance, Sarah (Brooke Adams), have all been lost. But Johnny has gained something -- extraordinary psychic powers allowing him to see visions of the past, present and future. In episode after episode, Johnny is propelled into horror-filled, supernatural experiences. Desperately, Johnny seeks seclusion, but a moral decision must be made -- should he use his powers to change the future of mankind? Martin Sheen gives a chilling portrayal as a sinister, psychotic Senate hopeful aspiring to the U.S. Presidency

Well not exactly classic cronenberg but an excellent stephen king adapt. - Ziegler
Positive: Well nice acting by walken and sheen. Sheen makes a great anti christ. Nice plot and adapt of the Stephen King novel.
Negative: Well average and bland movie. very 1980s.
Conclusion: OK steph king movie avg. cronenberg. The movie is OK but not the best of both worlds. Two movies in one! - RottenRon
Christopher Walkin is fun to watch in Chronenburg's "Dead Zone", a movie that is quirky as both of these artists. The first half of the film is dedicated to the apprehension of a serial killer with the help of a newly made psychic awakened from a 5 year coma, then the film shifts gears to a political story of a cut throat politician and his rise to power. Most of the films characters are involved in both worlds but you can't help but noticing the stark mood contrast between the two half's, something that could make or break the film for viewers.Good adaptation of a Stephen King novel - Coconut_Willy
I have seen this movie many times before and still enjoy watching it. This is very much a 'who's who' of the movie industry at the time with Debra Hill producing, David Cronenberg directing, based on a Stephen King best-seller with music from Michael Kamen and a fabulous cast. It would have been very difficult to go wrong with so much talent involved. The storyline is interesting and is well developed. It is more like a series of short stories linked by a general concept than a single plot which is something that always pleases me; it makes it much more difficult to loose interest. The cast is stellar with numerous familiar faces doing a very good acting job with a great dialogue and great characters. The sets and locations are good, the soundtrack is very good and the camera work is sometimes surprising. I would probably say that this is more a psychological thriller than horror as there is not really anything graphic or a lot of action scenes. Overall, a very good movie, well made, that has not really aged that much.
