Everyone's Hero
No matter where life takes you, always keep swingin'.
What if you had one chance to be a hero? Would you take it? Or play it safe?
That’s the question facing an ordinary boy who believes he can make a difference if he just hangs in there despite overwhelming odds. With a faith in himself instilled by his loving family, he teams up with a sassy young girl and some off-the-wall sidekicks and embarks on a sometimes perilous, often funny, cross-country quest. In the process he restores his family’s honor, befriends the world’s biggest sports superstar, and reveals the hero within.
Not bad for a kid!

This movie did little to captivate the adult audience. The computer graphics were ok but nothing spectacular. The humor definitely catered to a younger audience and had very little to offer the parents. I don’t regret watching it but there is really nothing here in terms of re-watch value; it was mostly boring the first time around so I can only imagine the nap that might have been involved with a second round of it.sports and cartoon fantastic combo..oldschool - sharpness
My nephew luved it but then again anything involving baseball and cartoon is always a big hit with him.
This heartwarming, wholesome family fare was originally conceived by the late Christopher Reeve (SUPERMAN), and reflects a theme of perseverance against all odds from which the whole family can learn. Set in Depression-era New York, the film follows 10-year-old baseball fan Yankee Irving (voiced by Jake T. Austin), who is more adept at remembering stats than he is at playing the game. Despondent over his sandlot misfires, Yankee is cheered when he makes the acquaintance of a baseball named Screwie (voiced by Rob Reiner) who can actually talk. Later, Yankee visits his dad at the Yankee Stadium, where he is allowed to visit Babe Ruth's famous bat, Darlin' (voiced by Whoopi Goldberg). The bat soon goes missing, Dad loses his job, and Yankee takes off for Chicago with a notion to deliver the bat to Babe. Along the way, he makes numerous friends, including a trio of down-and-out bums who take him under their wing, and a little girl with a mean pitch. The scene with the Detroit Tigers, where the team gives Yankee baseball pointers en route to Chicago, is the film's most charming, while the bumbling bad guy, Lefty Maginnis (voiced by William H. Macy), provides an abundance of slapstick humor. Despite the dubiousness of Babe Ruth's appeal to contemporary youngsters, the story works by concerning itself more with family values, friendship, perseverance, and good clean fun, than with baseball per se. The standout cast also includes Brian Dennehy as the Babe, and Forest Whitaker as the Tigers player Yankee befriends. The soundtrack features original music by Brooks & Dunn, Wyclef Jean, and Mary Chapin Carpenter.JUST TAKE A NAP INSTEAD - Ricardo
Okay, the movie was for kids, so adults were supposed to put up with it. However we all have seen plenty of "kids" movies that have been superbly entertaining for grown-ups also. This is not one of those. In fact, this movie is probably boring even for kids. The story is weak, the pace of the movie is extremely slow, and even if the late Christopher Reeves had something to do with the movie, that's not good enough reason to watch it.
I do not recommend it.
