All the King's Men
Time Brings All Things to Light.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely in writer/director Steven Zaillian's (the Oscar-winning screenwriter of Schindler's List) adaptation of Robert Penn Warren's classic novel All The King's Men featuring an all-star cast led by Sean Penn, Jude Law, Kate Winslet, Patricia Clarkson, James Gandolfini, Mark Ruffalo and Anthony Hopkins.
All The King's Men charts the spectacular rise and fall of a charismatic Southern politician, "Boss" Willie Stark (Penn). Law co-stars as Jack Burden, the once idealistic, now embittered ex-reporter who unwittingly fuels Stark's corrupt political ambitions.

The script keeps lots of the dialogue, images, and the looping storytelling from the text I understand the compressions they needed to do--and they generally worked.
The acting was powerful: lots of nuances from Jude Law, Sean Penn, Kate Winslet, Anthony Hopkins, and the rest. I saw reviews busting on Law for being so beautiful--a tragedy we share, of course--but honestly, I thought he did well at getting to the heart of Jack.
It really helped me to see the locations where they filmed: the statehouse, Burden's Landing, Mason City, and more.long and political - fsavoie
The acting was stunning, I would vote for sean penn for sure. The movie was long to go... no action, not much drama feeling... the speach was really good. For those who like politics and corruption. The blu-ray edition was great, the picture and the sound! Not bad - Shelly
Sean Penn did a great job (as usual) with his acting. The story however left something to be desired. It was long and drawn out. Some parts were great and others were simply boring so this is a very hard movie to rate. I will just go with great acting but the story needs work.
